Preaching Slowdown
by cornish in.
i can remember numerous talks and study articles about how the preaching work would get more and more intense as we near the end.. one so called prophetic illustration that stands out in my mind was when joshua and his men marched around the city each day and then just before the city fell they marched seven times signifying a quickening of the preaching work.. it seems starkingly obvious that the preaching,is in decline amonst jw's,the jw's are seen less and less often in my neighbourhood,it is very rare to see them out street witnesing around the town centres and railway stations, the average jw spends far less time preaching than a decade ago.. it seems like their chief brag is definately on the wain,in favour of other recruitment methods.

Have The Elders Ever Told You They Needed To Speak 2 You After The Meeting?
by minimus ini wonder how many times an elder approached you before the meeting to say, "after the meeting, we would like to talk to you about something".
you know that feeling-----remember???
the entire meeting you tried not to think about whatever it was they needed to talk to you about.

They needed to speak on different occasions for different reasons.
I was in trouble.
Someone else was in trouble and I had to rat on them.
Someone else was spreading rumours about me.
I was up for additional privileges.

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought the title said, "Have The Elders Ever Told You They Needed To Spank You After The Meeting?"
Speak, umm, yes.

Now, if your car breaks down, your pet runs away, and your house explodes, you might want to revisit this.

I am going to try hanging out with you people
by CruithneLaLuna inhello, new member here.. i registered a couple of years ago, but my initial experiences here were not of the warm/fuzzy variety, which must have been what i needed at the time; so, i left.
recenty, a friend gently suggested that i might want to give interacting here a second try.. so's i don't have to type it twice, i offer here a hyperlink to my member profile.. although one might reasonably be named "cruithne" - especially if one is irish or scottish - it is not my real name.
well, of course it is my real name, in that i choose to be known by it.

Experience of new elders meeting format.....
by caspian injust to let you know that the s2 has come back from london with my deletion on it, so i expect it to be announced on thursday, it will be interesting to see how "my brothers and sisters" treat me.
anyway with regards to my experience to the new format of elders meetings.... some of you may be aware of the change to the format announced at the the elders seminar 2002 and in the subsequent letter, regarding the handling of an elder whose child has been involved in serious conduct.. basically the change is that a special elders meeting is held, where the elder is questioned by the body on why he thinks his child got into trouble?
was it his fault?

It seems to me that the Borg is losing a generation. Not just the children of elders, but also the young who've been "raised in the truth" are not sticking around. Ozzie
A bit off of the topic but,
Within the last year we have had the CO give talks about this problem. He said that there is a stark contrast with the current generation of mid 20 to mid 30-year-old men in the congregation compared to years ago. They just aren’t reaching out for more responsibilities. Meaning, there may be a shortage of elders in the future, and a shortage of brothers to take on additional ‘privileges’ for other avenues of ‘godly service’. Additional privileges like working with the RBC for quick-builds, or becoming CO’s & DO’s, helping at DC’s, etc…
And the point was of such importance that there was a ‘local needs’ part at the Circuit Assembly that specifically put brothers in the spotlight questing if they are reaching out for additional ‘privileges’.
There appears to be a shortfall of these brothers to fill in the vacancy’s left by aged brothers who just can’t handle the additional responsibilities on top of the task of just making a living and providing for the family.
Hummm, it appears that the ‘waters are drying up’ for the great harlot? ;P

After reading the title [a real winner!] I didn't even have to second guess who the author was. Good one.

Here's My Witness Experience and Why I Left
by PRB ini got baptized as a jw around the end of 1981 and continued as an active publisher for about eight years.
however, i gradually started to become disenchanted with the organization.
it wasnt just one thing, but an accumulation of things that eventually got to me.

Hi PRB ,
Welcome to the group!
Thx for sharing your story. It has many of the same ingredients that myself and others here have expressed about the WTS and why they started to Q and doubt. It was nice to hear it.

even worse for them was the disconcerting civility of the NYC populace
Room 215
Yes, that is terrible news for the WTS. Every main article in the mags uses the first few pages to tell us how terrible things are. Every public talk on any given Sunday will talk about how evil the world is for thirty minutes before we even crack open a Bible. The WTS thrives off of catastrophes.
Now worldly NY'ers getting along during a crisis and even helping each other out? Well friends, I'm sure that I don't have to spell this out for you. But for the benefit of the new ones here, let us reiterate what the Bible clearly tells us regarding this matter.
The cry for 'Peace & Security' is nigh friends. And jehover's day of vengeance is soon. Yes; very, very soon ;P
